Go to the Port Lucaya Marketplace. It’s really as simple as that. Port Lucaya’s marketplace has everything you need, whether you’re looking for hand-crafted souvenirs or shopping malls that remind you of the shopping back home. Additionally, you’ll find restaurants here for taking a quick break when the bags have gotten too heavy. 2. Try to avoid the rush hours. If you can go shopping early to avoid the rush, make sure you do it – then you can have the rest of your day to explore the island even more. Try to avoid key times that people tend to shop, such as the hours around lunch and in the afternoon. 3. Indulge in the local offerings. It’s not a complete Bahamian shopping trip unless you check out the local wares – we promise you won’t be disappointed. 4. Watch out for festivals. If your shopping trip coincides with a festival, then you’re going to have a heck of a time getting around. Be sure to ask if there’s anything going on in the squares before you head out shopping. You’ll probably be glad you did. 5. Buy duty-free. It helps to save you hassle, and you can often find items that are cheaper than they would be in comparative shops in the United States.
